An Alternative Program for Organic Food Production
In 2016, an organic agriculture project emerged for a small group of youth in the rural area of Suchitoto, implemented by members of GOD Intl. As a result of this effort, a small organic garden was started on the campus, with just two small beds, planting some tomato plants and cucumber seeds. Antonio Mejía was part of that training, and he would later be responsible for overseeing the project, turning it into a demonstration garden for families around the community.
Antonio was very convinced that it was madness because the land didn't look good or have the color that indicated it was good soil; it was white, sandy, and lacked nutrients. Moreover, breaking the paradigms that without pesticides it was not possible to produce made it seem like an impossible mission. But over time, with effort, research, trials, collaboration within GOD Intl, working on and nourishing the soil, learning to produce organic inputs found in the surrounding environment, and faith in God, this project became a good model for others.
Today, it is a sustainable, 100% organic project that produces a variety of vegetables and staple grains, herbs, various types of chili peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, cilantro, radishes, beets, broccoli, fruits, bananas, etc. One of the greatest achievements has been the acquisition, preservation, and diversification of our own seeds such as corn, lettuce, chili peppers, carrots, tomatoes, cilantro, radishes, and other varieties exclusively produced in the garden named "DEMSOFE". This effort has benefited several farmers in the area, specifically women, with workshops, provision of seedlings, seeds, and personalized advice.
What seemed impossible became a reality that anyone who desires can see in this garden, a model to make it possible in their own homes, on their own land.
The latest production from December 2023 to February 2024 was incredible and abundant, full of colors and life, as these are very healthy products that provide for consumption, sale, and sharing with those in need.
The work is hard, the responsibility is great, very good lessons are learned in the process, there is much health, education, and empowerment in the area of vital food production for people's health. We have planted, we have watered, and God has made a variety of products grow and produce, which becomes a sign that when we work together and move in faith, we can see the fruits of labor and God's provision on our tables.

En el año 2016 surgió un proyecto de agricultura orgánica para un pequeño grupo de jóvenes del área rural en Suchitoto, implementado por miembros de GOD intl. A raíz de ese esfuerzo se dio inicio en el campus un pequeño huerto orgánico, con solo dos pequeñas camas de cultivo, se sembraron algunas plantas de tomate y semilla de pepino. En ese entrenamiento estaba Antonio Mejía que a futuro sería el responsable de dar seguimiento al proyecto, para convertirse en un huerto demostrativo para las familias alrededor de la comunidad. Antonio estaba muy convencido de que era una locura porque la tierra no tenía un buen aspecto ni un color que denotará que era una buena tierra, era blanca, arenosa y sin nada de nutrientes. Además romper los paradigmas de que sin pesticidas no era posible producir, se volvía una misión imposible. Pero con el paso del tiempo el esfuerzo, la investigación, pruebas, trabajando y nutriendo el suelo, aprendiendo a producir insumos orgánicos que están en el medio que nos rodea y la fe en Dios que este proyecto se convertiría en un buen modelo para otros, hasta la actualidad es un proyecto sostenible, 100% orgánico que produce una variedad de vegetales y granos básicos, hierbas, diversas variedades de chiles, de tomates, lechuga, repollo, cilantro rábano, remolacha, brócoli, frutales, bananos etc... Y uno de los mayores logros ha sido la obtención, preservación y diversificación de semillas propias como son: maíz, lechuga, chile, zanahoria, tomates, cilantro, rábano y otras variedades que se producen exclusivamente en el huerto que lleva por nombre "DEMOSFE". Este esfuerzo ha beneficiado a varios agricultores de la zona, específicamente a mujeres, con algunos talleres, provisión de plantines, semillas y asesoría personalizada.
Lo que parecía imposible se convirtió en una realidad que todo el que desea puede ver en este huerto un modelo para hacerlo posible en sus propios hogares, en sus propios terrenos.
La última producción de diciembre de 2023 hasta febrero de 2024 fue increíble y abundante llena de colores y de vida pues son productos muy saludables que proveen para el consumo, venta y compartir con los necesitados.
