Since 2006, G.O.D. International has been active in the Philippines, with its South East Asia Regional team focusing on education, youth development, and maternal health. Selecting Tacloban City, Leyte as their hub just before Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, their work became increasingly vital. At the Tahanan Community Center near Tacloban, the team engages in various activities including fellowships, Bible studies, and educational seminars. Additionally, they contribute to the local community by teaching at primary schools, ministering in prisons, providing extensive opportunities for youth development, and advocating and supporting women in birth.

Our organization's work in South East Asia has a history dated back to the 1970s when Mike Garner (then a Marine based in Subic Bay, P.I.) met Trinidad (a Filipina from the Islands) and together they experienced a series of events that led to their marriage and heightened awareness of the systemic issues that pervaded the country.
Some years later, when Gregg Garner (Founder of GOD Int’l) was about 5 years old, his parents Mike and Trinidad took their children to the Philippines where they served as missionaries. This was Gregg's first encounter with the developing world, and it impacted him deeply as he lived there, even attending public school, for the time they did. From a young age, he knew that he wanted to find a way to help as the need continually hit ‘close to home.’
SEA History
Tahanan means home in Tagalog. At Tahanan Community Center, we create a space for people to learn God’s Word, fellowship, and serve within the local community. Since opening our doors in 2013, we have offered Bible seminars, music lessons, movie nights, gardening and skills development opportunities, and fellowship. Tahanan has become a home to many.
Since establishing Tacloban City as our hub location in the Philippines, we have hosted Bible studies, dinners, and facilitated times for local youth to serve in the Palo community. The community garden at Tahanan has become a source of agricultural education and a place to grow produce to be given to neighbors, a nearby school and to inmates at the Tacloban City Jail.
