Rose Oungh is part of our ministry team at the India branch of G.O.D. International. Last week in Gurgaon, we celebrated her two year work anniversary of employment with us! When asked to share a few highlights from her time with us, Rose’s response was so genuine and enthusiastic that we were overwhelmed.
Before coming to work with us, Rose worked at a real estate company in one of Gurgaon’s cement towers. One of the stark contrasts between that job and her current position was how quickly the last 2 years with G.O.D. Int’l have flown by. With repetition Rose marveled, “I just can’t believe it’s been two years. The time has passed so quickly; at my old job the days just dragged and I couldn’t wait to go home, but now I am happy to arrive at the office each day and my time here is so pleasant.”

Rose set up and staffed the hospitality table at our girls’ health seminar a few weeks ago.
Rose noted that in previous jobs there was no chance for continued development and growth as an employee. She has really enjoyed all the opportunities to grow into new, diverse responsibilities. One area that Rose has received training and now serves in are the reproductive health seminars we offer in the Delhi area. Rose helps Sneha Purti in holding educational seminars both to teen girls and women on female health. Rose shines in administrative roles: arranging the venue in a hospitable way, welcoming guests at the sign-in table and keeping careful records of attendance and contact information. Rose’s gentle spirit and warm smile set the tone for these seminars, as she tends to the details that make any event a success.

This past month, employees and volunteers went through the book of Genesis taught by Rebekah Davis, a highlight for all of them.
When I asked Rose about the most valuable thing she’s learned in her last two years with us she said, “Of course… the Bible. Coming here the most valuable thing I’ve learned is getting closer to God.” She went on to explain, “I was raised in a Christian family and I was familiar with many Bible stories, but now I see there is so much more to learn from God’s word, and I’ve gotten such a deeper understanding.” This summer Rose attended an in-depth Bible study on the book of Genesis, devoting 30 class hours to the study of this book, and demonstrating attentiveness and diligence in her studies. Rose also cited by name the many Bible teachers who have invested into her education over the past two years, and recalled with gratitude the empowering and inspiring impact that their investment has had on her.
When asked about hopes for the future Rose said she hopes to see the girls reproductive health seminars continue and expand, reaching even more of an audience of young ladies who enter puberty fearfully, with little idea of what is happening to their bodies. Rose will be taking an online course this Fall which further equips her in the field of maternal health.
As development workers there is great joy for us to see our work contribute to the joy and contentment that people experience as they grow in spiritual confidence, and participate in purposeful work. We are happy to celebrate 2 years with Rose, and look forward to many more together, co-laboring in service to the Lord!
